Enterprise Security for Mobile Devices
Mobile device usage has increased at an alarming rate, especially over the last two years. Many IT departments lack the tools they need to monitor the devices that access their networks. Back when just a handful of employees used their devices to check email, the risk felt manageable.
But that’s changed. Today, too many smartphones and tablets have access to critical business applications, confidential file shares, and sensitive documents. The advances in technology for processing power, storage, connectivity and functionality have taken the 'always on' generation through to new horizons. From Web 2.0 to Enterprise 2.0, we are now able to access Salesforce, SharePoint and numerous other 'apps' enabling us to work anywhere at any time, on any device.
If you can't easily manage or audit device access, you can't identify potential threats or prove policy compliance. BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) policies should be carefully managed to ensure networks are protected and sensitive data is not leaking out via employee-owned devices.
Extending an enterprise policy out to mobile devices allows organisations to manage what happens on that device. From control of apps, to forwarding company emails to private email accounts, to taking photo's and enforcing encrypted storage of company data, the challenges of BYOD can be eliminated easily and brought in line with corporate policy.
